Complete 3116 engine assembly for the CAT 325B excavator and related machine frames. The 3116 is a 6.6 litre (402 cu in) inline six running a 105 mm bore and 127 mm stroke, fuelled by camshaft-driven mechanical unit injectors with no high-pressure injection pump anywhere in the circuit. Replacing one injector without setting rack travel leaves that cylinder fuelling differently from the other five.

The 320C is normally supplied with the smaller 3066, so a heading placing this engine in a 320C needs the serial number checked before an order.

No, and the difference is deeper than the badge. The 3116 is 6.6 litres with a mechanical rack bar metering fuel at each injector, while the 3126 is 7.2 litres and fires its injectors hydraulically under computer control. Blocks, heads, harnesses and diagnostic routines all differ, so a machine wired for one cannot simply receive the other.
Because the engine never had one in the usual sense. The camshaft lobe pushes each unit injector, and a small transfer pump lifts fuel from the tank to the gallery at low pressure, where the rack decides how much each injector receives. A seller offering a high pressure pump for this model has either confused it with the electronic engine or is describing the lift pump in the wrong words.
Enough that the model name settles nothing. Highway and industrial versions run from about 170 hp to the mid two hundreds, and marine versions reach 355 hp with aftercooling. The rating is fixed by injector specification, timing and turbocharger match, so quoting a horsepower without the application invites a mismatch that shows up as smoke or as a short life.
