Important Buying Cautions
Two ratings for one designation: The excavator build is published near 301 kW, while the marine build of the same engine is sold at 660 hp. The rating is fixed by the build, not the designation.
The smaller relative looks similar: The 3176 runs 125 mm by 140 mm at about 10.3 L against 130 mm by 150 mm here, so pistons, liners and heads do not interchange on the bare designation.
A later designation shares the footprint: The C12 is published with the same physical size, footprint and connection points, which is why market headings list the two together.
Injector numbers from other families: Market entries mix 350-7555 with numbers from other families; the arrangement number decides the injector.
Wide and uneven price spread: Headings mostly sit between about 2000 and 8800 per piece, with entries at 1093 to 2183, a used marine pair sold per unit, and one listing printed at 159205 for 11768000 pieces.
Few headings name this engine: Across the category, only about one listing in seven carried the designation, and most of the rest packed six to ten unrelated models into one heading.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Which machines did the 3196 power?

It went into the 365B L, the 365B L Series II, the 365C and the 365B L material handler, and it is also catalogued for industrial and marine use.

Q2: Why does one engine show two unrelated power figures?

The rating belongs to the build rather than the designation: the excavator build is published near 301 kW / 404 hp gross, while the marine build is sold at 660 hp. The arrangement number on the plate fixes which one an engine is.

Q3: Can parts listed for the 3176 be fitted to it?

Not on the bare designation. The 3176 runs 125 mm by 140 mm at about 10.3 L against 130 mm by 150 mm here, so piston, liner and head numbers are checked against the arrangement.

Q4: Is the C12 a separate engine?

It is a later designation published with the same size, footprint and connection points.

Q5: Are the injectors shared with other models?

350-7555 is sold across the 3176, 3196, C10 and C12 applications, with 20R-0056 as the exchange number.

Q6: What has to be confirmed before an assembly is quoted?

The arrangement number stamped on the engine, together with the machine model and serial.
