Product Description

The 4BTA3.9-C130 is a complete four-cylinder diesel engine assembly from the Cummins B series, rated at 130 hp (approximately 97 kW). Built on the 3.9 litre (239 cu in) platform with a 102 mm bore and 120 mm stroke, it is turbocharged and jacket-water aftercooled, making it a proven powerplant for excavators, drilling rigs, agricultural machinery, trucks and generator drive applications.

Key Features of the 4BTA3.9-C130 Engine Assembly
  • Four-cylinder 3.9 litre B series assembly rated at 130 hp (approximately 97 kW)
  • 102 mm bore by 120 mm stroke with jacket water aftercooling for improved charge density
  • 17.3:1 compression ratio per the C130 data sheet
  • CPL 2039 and CPL 2093 both appear against this rating, with different governed speeds
  • Head gasket 3921393 and head assembly 3919357 listed for the eight-valve 3.9 litre

Important Ordering Cautions
Mechanical vs. Electronic: The 4BTA3.9 is mechanically injected, while the QSB3.9-C130 is electronically controlled with an ECM. Market headings mix the two, but pumps, injectors and harnesses do not interchange.
Two CPLs, Two Speeds: CPL 2039 is given on the C130 curve sheet and CPL 2093 on the C130-II listing, with 2200 rpm and 2500 rpm quoted in different places.
Engine Serial Is Not a Part Number: One heading quotes ESN 21356645 beside the model; that is an engine serial number and cannot be ordered against.
Designations Around It: 4B3.9 is naturally aspirated, 4BT3.9 is turbocharged without aftercooling, 4BTAA3.9 is a further aftercooled variant, and 6BT5.9 is the six cylinder.
Wide and Uneven Price Spread: Assemblies appear from about 6600 CNY to 38600 CNY per piece, with most between 22000 and 30000.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What does the C130 part of the model code mean?

It is the rating code, and it stands for 130 horsepower rather than for a displacement or a build number. The same 3.9 litre block is also sold as C100, C110 and C125, so the code tells a buyer how hard the engine is rated, while the CPL and the plate tell them how it is built.

Q2: Why does one C130 listing say 2200 rpm and another 2500 rpm?

Because the governed speed belongs to the CPL, not to the rating code. One C130-II sheet carries CPL 2093 at 2200 rpm while another build is quoted at 2500 rpm, which matters when the engine drives a pump, a drilling rig or a generator that has to hold a fixed speed.

Q3: Is the QSB3.9-C130 the same engine?

No. The displacement and the rating may read the same, but the QSB version is electronically controlled with an ECM and a common rail system, while the 4BTA3.9 is mechanically injected. Pumps, injectors, harnesses and governors are not interchangeable between them.

Q4: Which head and gasket numbers belong to it?

3921393 is the head gasket for the eight valve 4B, 4BT3.9 and 4BTA3.9, 3804896 the gasket kit, and 3919357 the head assembly.

Q5: Are the injectors shared with the six cylinder?

3802982, 3971965 and 4948366 are listed across 4B and 6B applications.

Q6: What has to be confirmed before an assembly is ordered?

The CPL and engine serial from the plate, plus the equipment model.
