Excavator sales in China rose 23.1% year on year in the first nine months of 2026, with 214,274 units sold between January and September, according to statistics published by the China Construction Machinery Industry Association (CCMA) in mid-October 2026. More than half of those machines — 109,744 units — were exported, and excavator exports have now grown year on year for 26 consecutive months.
For anyone who sells, stocks or fits parts, the interesting number is not the 23.1%. It is what that number becomes over the next five to ten years.
Every excavator sold today creates a service obligation that lasts far longer than the sales invoice. Filters and consumables are consumed from the first working hour. Injection, turbo and cylinder-head work arrives in the middle of the machine's life. Major repair decisions — rebuild or replace the assembly — arrive later still, on machines that may now be working in a different country from the one they were sold in. Parts demand is therefore driven by the machine population and its working hours, not by the sales curve of any single year.

September domestic sales and September total growth are separate CCMA-based reports; export totals for September were not stated in the figures used here.
Three details in that table matter more than the headline:
The export share has passed 50%. Of the 214,274 excavators sold in January–September 2026, 109,744 went abroad — 51.2% of the total. Export volume for the period is now larger than domestic volume. China's construction machinery export value for January–August 2026 reached USD 46.614 billion, up 20.8% year on year.
Growth is now export-led, but domestic demand has also returned. Domestic sales grew 16.3% in the same period, after a long contraction: total Chinese excavator sales fell from 342,800 units in 2021 to 261,300 in 2022 and 195,000 in 2023 before recovering. Domestic recovery adds machines to the field at home; export growth adds them everywhere else.
Electric machines exist but remain a small share. January–September 2026 figures include 629 electric excavators, of which 322 were exported. That is roughly 0.3% of total sales — worth tracking, not yet a stocking priority, and electric machines still rely on hydraulic systems for their working functions.
The machines sold during the last peak are now the machines being repaired. Chinese excavator sales grew from 56,300 units in 2015 to a peak of 342,800 units in 2021 — a single-year cohort that is now, in 2026, five years old.
A five-year-old excavator is at the start of its most repair-intensive period. Under a normal duty cycle, this is when high-hour machines begin to need injector and turbocharger work, cylinder head and gasket work, hydraulic pump and travel motor attention, and eventually a decision on whether to rebuild or replace the engine assembly. The 2021 cohort was the largest in the industry's history, which means the current repair window is the largest the aftermarket has seen.
The global aftermarket reflects that steady, lagging demand. Research and Markets values the construction equipment aftermarket at USD 23.1 billion in 2025, projected to reach USD 29 billion by 2032 — a 3.3% compound annual growth rate, far steadier than the swings in new machine sales, because it follows the installed base rather than the sales cycle

| Category | Why demand rises | Typical applications |
|---|---|---|
| Filters and consumables | Consumed on a fixed hour interval by every machine in the field; demand tracks population immediately | Air, oil and fuel filters, water separators, coolant |
| Undercarriage | The fastest-wearing, highest-frequency replacement on tracked machines | Track chains, rollers, idlers, sprockets, track shoes |
| Engine mid-life parts | Appears as machines pass the middle of their service life | Injectors, injection pumps, turbochargers, cylinder heads, gasket sets |
| Hydraulic components | Highest-value wear items after the engine; a failed pump stops the machine instantly | Main pumps, travel motors, swing motors, control valves, cylinders |
| Complete engines and blocks | Repair cost approaches replacement cost; typical on five to ten-year-old machines | Complete assemblies, short blocks, long blocks |
| Electrical parts | Demand follows electronic engines now out of warranty | ECM and controllers, monitors, sensors, harnesses, solenoid valves |
| Seal and rebuild kits | Ordered with almost every major repair | Per-component seal kits, gasket kits, rebuild kits |

When more than half of new machines leave the factory country, the parts market becomes an export market too. Three consequences follow:
Fitment must be matched to the machine, not the model name. Excavators of the same model number can carry different components depending on production year, emission generation and previous replacement history. A large share of used machines in export markets have already been re-engined once. Ordering by model name alone is how wrong parts get shipped.
Emission generation matters at the border. An engine or aftertreatment component built for one market may be wrong — or unnecessary — for another. Confirm the destination market's requirement before the part is crated.
Availability beats price over a machine's life. A part that arrives in three days at a fair price is worth more than a cheaper part that arrives in three weeks. Stocking the fast movers locally, while sourcing mid-life and major components from a supplier who can confirm fitment, is the model that keeps machines working.

Guangzhou Lanxin Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. supplies excavator engines, engine parts, hydraulic parts and electrical parts for construction and mining machinery, covering Komatsu, Caterpillar, Cummins, Isuzu, Deutz and other major applications. We support both OEM and aftermarket requirements, and every order is confirmed against your machine model, serial number and nameplate before dispatch — because a growing machine population also means a growing number of parts that must be matched correctly the first time.
If you are planning stock for the coming season, or need a specific engine, pump or component for a machine already in the field, send us your machine model and the nameplate photograph. We will confirm the correct item and quotation.
